Dana Walden Rejigs Disney TV Team to Strengthen Content Creation

Dana Walden, Chairman of Entertainment at Walt Disney Television, has announced a reorganization of the company’s TV team. The move is aimed at bolstering the company’s content creation capabilities and expanding its reach across various platforms.

Walden, who joined Disney in 2020, is known for her expertise in developing and producing hit TV shows. Under her leadership, the company has seen significant growth in its streaming business, with the launch of Disney+ and the acquisition of 21st Century Fox.

The reorganization involves a restructuring of the company’s creative teams, with the goal of maximizing their talents and increasing collaboration. As part of the changes, several executives will be taking on new roles within the company.

James Goldston, who previously served as President of ABC News, will be joining the entertainment division as Head of Content and News. In this role, he will oversee all of Disney’s entertainment programming, including scripted and unscripted series, as well as news programming.

The reorganization will also see the formation of a new division, called the Disney Branded Television Group. The group will be led by Gary Marsh, who will oversee all content aimed at children and families across Disney’s platforms.

In a statement, Walden said: “This reorganization is about bringing together the best and brightest creative minds at Disney to maximize our content creation capabilities. We believe this will allow us to better serve our audiences and strengthen our position in the ever-evolving media landscape.”

The changes are expected to take effect immediately, and the company is confident that they will lead to even more success in the future.
